Privacy Policy — Hallowed Habits

Hallowed Habits (“the App”) helps you build Scripture habits by locking the apps you choose until you recite a Bible verse, developed by Nine8Twenty1 LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains, in plain language, how the App handles information. The short version: the App has no accounts, and the only thing it ever sends us is an anonymous push-notification token used to keep your app lock working reliably — nothing else leaves your device, and nothing is ever sold or used for advertising.

App restrictions (Screen Time)

The App uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time so you can lock the apps you choose until you recite a verse. Your app selections are handled by Apple’s system framework and stored on your device as private, opaque tokens. We cannot see which specific apps you select, and that information is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Microphone & speech recognition

To confirm you’ve recited the verse, the App listens with your microphone and transcribes your speech using Apple’s Speech Recognition:

• When your device supports on-device recognition, transcription happens entirely on your device.
• If your device does not support on-device recognition, iOS may send the audio to Apple’s speech recognition service to transcribe it. That processing is performed by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

The App uses the transcription only in the moment, to compare what you said against the verse. It does not record, save, or transmit your audio, and the transcription is not stored or sent to us.

Push notifications & lock reliability

Rarely, iOS can silently drop the App’s daily lock schedule (for example after an app update). To heal this automatically, the App registers for silent push notifications and sends its Apple push-notification device token to a service we operate. A few times a day, that service sends your device an invisible background ping that lets the App re-arm your lock if iOS dropped it. About this token:

• It is an opaque identifier generated by Apple for delivering notifications to your device. It contains no name, email, location, or anything about you, and we do not link it to your identity in any way.
• It is used only to send these invisible reliability pings — never for marketing, advertising, analytics, or tracking.
• It is stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and deliveries are made through Apple’s Push Notification service under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
• It is deleted automatically once it stops working (for example after you delete the App). You can also request deletion any time by emailing us.

Everything else stays on your device

Verses, your settings, and your progress are stored only on your device (and shared privately between the App’s own components). The App has no advertising and no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track users across apps or websites.

No data sharing

Other than the push token described above — which is processed for us by Apple and Cloudflare solely to deliver these reliability pings — no data leaves your device, and we have no personal information to sell, rent, or share with third parties, and we do not do so.

Made for a general audience

The App collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the App handles information, we will update this policy and revise the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be reflected in an App update.
